How long does it take to learn Bridge?
- Duplicate bridge (played in Bridge Clubs) needs a few lessons.
- Our Beginners Course is structured to take you from knowing nothing to being a novice player in twelve weeks – step by step with practice hands and notes to help you.
- Learning bridge has been compared with learning a language in that reward is closely related to effort.

Beginners Classes
We offer intensive beginners classes of 5 days each in January and June. These classes run from 10.30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday.
5 day intensive class – 6th to 10th June 2025 (Mon to Fri, 10.30am to 2.30pm daily)
We also offer beginners classes in a weekly class format three times a year. The weekly classes run for a total of 12 weeks, split into two stages (1 & 2) of 6 weeks each. Together, the 12 week beginners program will equip you with a comprehensive beginners level knowledge of bridge and prepare you to play in supervised sessions at the Club, or you can opt to play socially. In each term, we offer you 2 class timings to choose from – Monday nights 7.15pm to 9.45pm and Friday afternoons 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

Learn Bridge in 5 days - June 2025
This 5 day intensive class is offered daily from Monday to Friday, from 10.30am to 2.30pm. We have a lunch room, so byo lunch to have during the short lunch break. Free coffee & tea will be provided by the club.
Monday to Friday, 2nd to 6th June, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Term 2 - Beginners (Stage I) Weekly Classes - June 2025
This introductory beginners course will teach you the basics of bridge, starting from the basics. The class is highly interactive with lecture and card play practice themed to that week’s topic. This course is also suitable for those who may not have played for a while and may want a refresher course. This introductory class will teach you the basic bidding and card play for social bridge.
After completing the 6-week introductory course, participants have the option to continue their learning with the stage 2 beginners class. Together, the 12 week course comprehensively teaches you all you need to know to play bridge socially and at the club.

Discover the enriching benefits of learning to play bridge with our beginners course, a gateway to enhanced mental, emotional, and social well-being. Whether you join us solo or with friends, this course is designed for everyone.
The weekly beginners’ classes are split into 2 blocks, each of 6 weeks costing $100 each. In the first 6-weeks you will learn and consolidate the basics of bridge with the following 6-weeks introducing additional concepts to give you the skills to move to Supervised Play at the club. Encourage your family and friends to come along and learn how to play with our experienced and fun teachers and tutors. These classes are held at Unley and term dates.
As you complete the first stage, seize the opportunity to continue your bridge journey by enrolling in the second stage of the beginners’ course where you will learn bidding and responses after 1NT and at the 2 level, weak and strong opening hands. Together the 12 weeks of the beginners course will provide you with all you need to know to start playing in supervised bridge at the Club. Further details about the second part will be provided by the instructor towards the end of your initial six weeks.
Advanced Beginners (Stage 2 ) Weekly Classes -Aug 2025
The six week advanced beginners course is aimed to those who have completed our Introduction to Bridge Stage 1 class. If you have not completed our Stage 1 introductory course, then you are expected to know the basics of bidding and responses at the 1 and 2 levels.
